One of the less obvious features is the virgin aluminum Woodard employs in its designs. Only seamless, virgin aluminum extrusions are used - the heaviest, purist and strongest available. Additionally, the wall thickness of Woodard casual frames are never thinner than .055 inches and feature multi-rib or double-wall construction for unparalleled durability. The main difference that places Woodard in a class by itself, are the skilled craftsmen who hand-weld and hand-bend every frame, and then carefully grind and buff each frame to showpiece perfection. Once the raw frames are hand constructed, a state-of-the-art, five-step finishing process is applied to ensure that every furniture piece will withstand the effects of time.
Each collection is constructed with the purest, most resilient aluminum alloys. 356 aluminum ingots to be exact, along with extrusion alloys that are never less than 60-61 or 60-63 gauge and internal components made from the finest stainless steel. Skilled craftsmen hand-cast, weld and buff each section. Each piece is then brought to flawless completion through Woodard's multi-step finishing process, making them wear-resistant and impervious to chipping. These features - ageless design, unparalleled construction and superior raw materials - ensure the lasting value of each cast collection for decades of graceful living.
The process begins with skilled craftsmen who use solid wrought iron stock, 13-16 gauge tubular steel, the strongest and most durable in the industry. Craftsmen then mold and shape the wrought iron by hand - an unprecedented feature that distinguishes Woodard from other manufacturers who rely on machines to cut and bend the metal. Once hand constructed, a MetalGuard™ finish is applied to each frame. This process is similar to the rust-proof treatment applied to luxury automobiles, but customized for Woodard's furniture manufacturing process. After being purified and dipped into a batch of zinc phosphates (rust inhibitors) that penetrate deep into the metal, each frame is then electro-coated to create a permanent weather resistant seal. Finally, a powder-coated color finish (5 mils thick on average) is applied and baked into the metal. The end result, beautifully constructed wrought iron furniture - the finest in the marketplace.
